Experience Design + Community Engagement
In my practice, I treat every opportunity to gather as a chance to build community. Meaningful and memorable shared experiences are at the core of community development. As such, I like to design experiences around shared values, with a mind for mixing people and cultivating rich dialogue. In addition to my workshop experiences, I’ve curated and produced salon series, conferences, and fundraising events. I take the business of celebration seriously.
First Possibility Potluck in an empty storefront– A dinner party meets design charrette for neighborhood development.
5for1 Joplin – Co-led a group of designers to plan a poster competition and happy hour. We raised over $11,000 for for rebuilding Joplin schools and united designers across Chicago.
Future of Learning Salons - Curated salon experiences for thinkers, entrepreneurs, and educators in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago with TheThirdTeacher+.
CEFPI Connect 2011 - Project manager and curator for a conference that united 100+ designers and educators in Chicago to explore the physical design of learning. We brought together thinkers like Michael Wesch, Thomas Stat, and Sarah Brown Wessling.
